Fine tools to pick the lock in this dank and dusty pit
Scrolls detailing vile experiments in forbidden corridors below
Sounds of footsteps signal the sentries return
Abandoned precious artifacts scatter the floor
Easy retreat overlooked deeper within
Who has this alchemist imprisoned in his tower
Rows of cages orcs and goblins locked away
Gruesome injuries molten lead and disease
Not a hero but a thief
Stole my share and more of loot
Saw the wrong side of a dungeon
As a gnome without vocation
Fine tools to pick the lock in this dirty dingy hole
Fine bolt to load the crossbow
May it fly straight as the crow
The orcs began their battlecry
Brandished stones and hafts of wood
Shoulder to shoulder with the strongest
We marched to meet our foe
Guards turned to see the faces of the vengeful charges they detained
Man thrown back first against a pillar
Spine cracking like a bow
Crush these grubs
Show them their guts
Flee or fight
Do what you must
Shaking hands open the padlock
Bleeding like the orcs behind
Explosions coming from the lab
Hot stinking vapor on my neck
Pungent smoke pours out the door
Survivors silhouetted in moonlight
They look away and disperse into the trees
I'm left alone to wonder

Casting lots in the sand
Clear my thoughts to recieve the divine
The visions that come from the ether are never the same
Bow my head let my vision go soft
The shackles of consciousness begin to fall off
Seven shining raven descend from the east
Beckon me to join them in a Grove of yew trees
Bestowing commendation for my act of cowardice
The task I left unfinished will haunt me in my sleep
A second chance awaits me if I seek out his clan
Black wings of destiny
Envelope me completely
I feel my boots lift away from the ground
Above the tree line when they dropped me down
When I opened my eyes, sky clear as the path
I may not survive this ordeal
But the alchemist will face my wrath
Stand cliffside sunset at my back
Recite powerful rhymes
Gather strength to face terrible foes
The success of the venture before me depends on my life

Revenant Marquis continues with the subterranean vocals on this album. Percussion sound on all tracks has a very large sound, especially the bass drum. Guitar is generally very clean. The more I listen, the more I get Xasthur vibes, but with a more rock and roll influence. Still very depressive and chaotic. A cool album!

Sorrowful indeed. Utterly beautiful blackened doom metal with melody that draws out a cathartic release. Its works like these that have me believe what Schopenhauer said about music was true, that it speaks truth to what is at our most core.
